Week 1 Recap - Real Football is Back

We're finally back. Real football is back in session without a barrage of Covid related contingency plans, locker rooms infested with the virus, and cardboard cutouts of fans at games. Vegas and LA had fans in their stadiums for the first time, both of which got their first home win of the season. Also the Lions almost made a hell of a comeback against the Niners led by the ELITE GOAT Jared Goff.

Turns out the Ravens locker room is cursed after losing three of their starting running backs to season ending injuries before the season began. The FA vets came storming through the front office demanding a piece of the pie, and yet they gave the UDFA Ty'Son Williams a crack at leading the charge.

Out in San Francisco, the sitcom that is the Shanahanigans kicked off another season with the healthy scratch of Trey Sermon followed by Raheem MustAlwaysBeHurt taking 2 snaps before getting hit with a season ending injury. Mitchell, Hasty, or Sermon to take the helm? Does anyone know? I don't even think Shanahan does.

Rookie QBs by fan reactions:
JAX: "Hey, Lawrence looked pretty good. I'm okay with this."
SF: "Hey, Lance looked pretty good (for like 2 plays). I'm okay with this."
NYJ: "Hey, Wilson looked pretty good. I'm okay with this."
CHI: "I fucking hate Andy Dalton."

Now to our league:

Brett led the field putting up 176.76. He smashed Mike who put up the least amount of points this week at 105.7.
Average winning score: 164.8
Average losing score: 121.4

Week 1 Perfect Lineup:
QB: Jameis Winston (Josh, 36.66pts)
WR: Tyreek Hill (Will, 34.6pts)
WR: Amari Cooper (Boyer, 33.4pts)
WR: Deebo Samuel (David, 30.4pts)
RB: Joe Mixon (Joe, 24pts)
RB: Christian McCaffrey (Chu, 23.2pts)
TE: Rob Gronkowski (David, 25pts)
WRT: Adam Thielen (Mike 25.7pts)
QWRT: Kyler Murray (Will 35.78pts)
K: Robbie Gould (Brett, 14.2pts)
DEF: Arizona (FA, 20pts)

Total: 282.94 pts (League record is 220.44 by me)

RBs were fucking weird this week. Mixon #1? Jamaal Williams, Melvin Gordon, D'Andre Swift, and Eli Mitchell all outscored Kamara, Cook and Henry. Saquon Barkley wasn't even in the top 50.

WRs went off the scales once again. The top 3 scoring over 30pts, two of which were on Boyer's team -- actually 3 of the top 6 are on Boyer's team.

QBs -- Winston SZN? Wtf is this stat line? 148 yds/5 TDs? Is Josh going to win his first prop bet? I feel like the NFL gave New Orleans a gimmie cause the whole city is under water..again. Usual suspects at the top here, excepting Hurts. Maybe Scott knows something we don't.

TEs -- Gronkowski, Kelce, Waller, Hockenson. I'm just gonna copy paste this for the rest of the season.

K -- I normally don't give a fuck about kickers, but just had to note: Harrison Butker was outscored by 10 other kickers -- 6 of which are free agents.

Week 2 Matchup of the Week (Brett vs Will):

One of us will lose our win streak. 2020 Semi-final rematch. Highest projected matchup total of the week (at the time of this writing). A lot of rain possibly forecasted, which could affect a number of matchups.

My biased opinion:
QB - Murray over Brady
RBs - Kamara/Gibson heavily over Henderson/Harris
WRs - Hill/Brown/Lamb/Anderson slightly over Diggs/McLaurin/Moore/Brown
TEs - Hock over Tonyan
K & Def - Probably subject to change

Final thought: I need Murray to be elite and reasonable performances from his RBs to keep this one competitive. Both my RBs have ?'s if they're going to maintain their week 1 usage. I have a feeling I will fall a little short.

Betting line: Brett (-8.5)

Good luck in Week 2 boys. Full power rankings will be out tomorrow.
