Week 9 Power Rankings - The Gap Widens

The top stays the top, and the bottom is really starting to separate. The playoffs are still a few weeks away, but the picture is really starting to form. Scott, Brett and Raj are almost locks to make the playoffs. Mike and Josh are just on the cusp of being locked in. Which basically leaves one spot up for grabs. Knowing our league, it's going to come down to Week 13, and probably points scored. The seeding of said playoffs is very much up for grabs, and will shake up considerably in the next 4 weeks.

But, screw all that, the thing that everyone is thinking about is who's gonna be the sacko. If you asked me a few weeks ago, I would've said Chu might have a sure pathway to it, but he's had a few decent weeks. If I was a betting man (which I obviously am), I would bet on myself or Joe at the moment. Luckily we play each other this week, which means one of us will break our losing streak. Joe, I hope you go down like Jorgenson. I'm hoping to be like Bernie, standing with the big boys just to get crushed again.

Note: Rankings shifted a lot cause I missed last week.

Stat of the week: This is the first time in league history we've had 3 teams at 7-2.

Matchup of the week: A Few DangeRuss Men(s) (7-2) vs Mahome Improvement (7-2)

There's hardly a hotter team in the league than Brett's right now. He's risen from 7th to 2nd in the power rankings from Week 5 to now. He's also been the top scoring team for the last 3 weeks in a row. His seemingly unplanned 0 RB draft strategy has paid off pretty nicely this year. Mahomes, Kelce and Davante Adams have been handily carrying his team. Mahomes is the #1 overall fantasy scorer in the league right now, having just passed Russell Wilson by 3 points. Kelce is the TE1 by 57 points, and Adams is the WR3. He'll be a team to contend with in the playoffs.

Scott is still not to be overlooked. Josh broke his win streak in Week 6, and he lost a fairly close one to Raj last week putting him at 7-2. His top 2 receivers are very different than the ones he started the season with. Thomas should be truly back this week, and Antonio Brown could be poised to be the #1 WR in Tampa Bay. It'll be interesting to see how Chubb potentially coming back this week affects Hunt, but you could argue that it will help rather than hurt.

This will be a battle for first place, albeit perhaps temporarily. In their Week 1 matchup, Scott took out Brett 150.72 - 139.1. This will be Brett's true test, as he has Mahomes and Kelce out on bye. With that in mind, I think Scott takes the W this week.

Points by Week

Individual Notes

Scott: Is looking pretty close to locked in for most points. Best RBs in the league with Henry, Robinson, and Gurley.
Brett: Longest current win streak at 5. 3 Weeks in a row as top scorer. His team is hot as hot can be right now.
Mike: Broke a potential losing streak against Joe, and has had a couple duds, but will definitely get a win against Chu unless he fully shits the bed.
Josh: Has cleared the #1 RB with a fucking outstanding 50pt performance by Dalvin Cook. In a good spot for a playoff clinch and would have to lose-out the season to return to his perennial 6-7.
Raj: Got McCaffrey back, but he seems he may be without him again. David Johnson also looks questionable with a concussion, so could be without his top 2 RBs.
Boyer: Has the top WRs in Diggs and Lockett. Seems hot or cold week to week. Last 6 Weeks performance: 108.92, 144.56, 100.04, 166.78, 100.34, 150.82. If the trend follows this will be a down week.
Jordan: Has had a little bit of a comeback in the last few weeks and will see if he can spoil Josh this week. Snuck both Meyers and NO from me you bastard.
Will: Losing streak has been brutal. Elliot is absolute garbage without a competent QB. Chubb coming back should help a potential end of season push if he can stay healthy. Metcalf is the only bright spot.
Chu: Still on the schneid, but took over Joe in the rankings. Trails Joe for least amount of points by ~69. Nice.
Joe: 2 weeks in a row scoring 85 or less. We shall see whether he or I break our streak this week. Gibson is on pace for 664 rushing yards.

Personal politics aside, this is the best league in the world gents. Let's not forget that. Love you all.
