The only constant is change.
Well, if any trends were emerging regarding which team was going to pull ahead of the pack, they all got shattered in Week 4. Mike and I got our first wins, and Jordan got his first loss. Every matchup except for David/Boyer ended up with the projected underdog taking the win. Every single team's streak was reset in Week 4. Whether you had 2 or 3 losses or wins in a row, that trend reversed. With 60% of the teams in the league sitting at 2-2, it is once again anybody's game.
Inspired by Chu and his deep dive into our league's data analytics, and a fantastic post yesterday about defense -- I've decided to add Point Share to my weekly power rankings calculations. I'll also be adding your weekly point share to the recaps from here on out as well. Check the Lineup Efficiency table for a new column.
Weekly Recap
It's lazy to call last week a boring week, but most games were decided pretty early, with a clear winner emerging by the late set of games. Monday's closest match was Scott/Joe, which was correctly predicted to be game of the week. If the Rams could've gotten their shit together against a stout 49ers defense and mustered some garbage time points, Joe might've taken the win.
Keeping in line with the theme of the week, the Detroit Lions and their high powered offense, yes I just wrote that, exploded in a shootout against Seattle. Jared Goff (elite QB god amongst men) ended up as QB1 on the week, and Geno..Smith...was QB2...anyway.
Rising stars Treylon Burks (turf toe, no timetable) and Javonte Williams (torn ACL, out for season) became victims of the injury monster -- letting Chu live up to his tradition of losing whomever he names his team after for an extended period of time. Let us not forget: Gotta Catch Jamaal (Jamaal Charles) 2015, Carry On my Wayward Son (Kerryon Johnson) 2019, Sutton but Trouble (Courtland Sutton) 2020, Judge Jeudy (Jerry Jeudy) 2021, and now Treylon Birkenstocks (Treylon Birks, 2022).
David is quietly creeping up the rankings and has the stats to back it up. He was the leading scorer this week led mostly by TJ Hockenson's explosive 38.9 points, Tom Brady showing up, Mike Evans with 2 TDs, Derrick Henry waiting for cold weather to pop off, and Chubb doing Chubb things. All of this despite starting off the week with losing Tua to a very controversial concussion after the Dolphins made the inexplicable decision to start him again. Watch out for David.
This Week's Matchup of the Week: Scott v Josh
At the time of this writing this matchup is projected to be the highest of the week. For the league standings, if Josh ends up winning, he has the potential to knock Scott down a few places just based on Scott's point total. Scott also has had the least points scored against him, with the next highest points against is +20 pts. The QB2 matchup is -- "who's more washed up" Wilson or Rodgers. The QB1 faceoff, Allen v Mahomes are both playing questionable Defenses in Allen v Pit, and Mahomes v Vegas in prime time. I believe the matchup will come down to who's QBs do better once again. Good luck boys.

Team Notes:
Jordan: We're all due a bad week. Waddle got a huge downgrade with Bridgewater as his QB. Gabe Davis has a nagging injury, but it's okay cause so does Bateman. At least we didn't lose any points in that trade. π McCaffrey is constantly proving he's the only relevant piece of the Panthers offense, and yet we're all waiting for the injury shoe to drop. Hurts had a rough game, but it was pouring rain and they still got a dub, just not a fantasy win. Brett proved that you are in fact human this year.
Joe: We're all due a bad week. Hill got a huge downgrade with Bridgewater as his QB. Kirk has a nagging..oh wait, this is exactly the same as Jordan's. Jacobs is constantly proving he's the only relevant piece of the Raiders...oh wait I'm doing it again. Lamar Jackson had a rough game..god dammit Will stop! Eh -- Scott proved that you are in fact human this year.
Josh: If you had this team like 4 years ago it would've been incredible. Week 4 of 2018 you would've scored ~123 points with just Rodgers, Cooper, Jones, Elliot, Kelce, and Mahomes. That's 6/11 starters. Maybe you should just go back in time and do that. You can jump in your moonship, or ask the Rockefellers, or maybe Tupac or whatever it is these days. All is balanced in nature when Josh is .500. It had to be me that handed it to you.
Brett: You beat Jordan. It wasn't a pretty win, but a win is a win is a win. Jefferson looked fantastic. Mariota did not, and somehow Fields did better. Barkley is running out of his mind, and hopefully that stays consistent and he doesn't die on the field for you. Nyheim Hines may be relevant with a Taylor high ankle sprain. Kyler Murray looked incredible, but it was against the Panthers. You're definitely a boom or bust team, just hope you don't bust too early. π¦
David: Again, I don't understand how you do it. But, whatever it is you're doing keep doing it. You put up 186, and had a QB literally get knocked unconscious. Somehow Greg Joseph (yes I spelled that correctly) is a better RB2 than Dalvin Cook. None of it makes sense and yet it's working amazingly for you. I keep doing this character for my wife. I imagine I would've won my Week 1 Matchup against Boyer if I had just fallen asleep and not changed my lineup, and then when I wake up I go (imagine my best Jeff Spicoli voice), "oh fuck! I won by less than a point. Holy shit could you imagine if I was trying at this game? Haha wow I'm so good. Imagine if I was a sweaty tryhard." I just realized that voice is you. π€
Scott: Your receivers were the only thing that held you back this week. Your main 3 put up a total of 11.7 points. I was right about Allen v Jackson being key with this matchup. Who knew the barn burner matchup would have been Jamaal Williams vs fucking Josh Jacobs. Hollywood Brown returning is great for you. Russell Wilson actually said "Broncos Country. Let's ride." But he said it like he meant it this week.
Chu: Always sucks to lose to a 0-3 team. But god dammit Mike and I were desperate. None of this loss was really your fault. Taylor got injured and the Carr got manhandled by the Broncos. Everyone else on your team did pretty damn good, especially your receivers. You are cursed though. As noted above this is the 4th year in a row you've had a major injury to a player you've named your team after. Maybe your team needs some defensive affirmative action. It lacks diversity. π
Boyer: Well, your luck had to run out someday, and it ran out hard. You lost Javonte Williams for the season. Robinson threw up a dud. Even if you had a decent week, you still likely would've been clowned on by David. You're last in total points, last in overall wins, and last in point share. But, all that really matters is you have 2 wins. There's not a lot on the wire this week to replace Williams, so good luck Milf Hunting.
Mike: We did it. We got a win. All hope is not lost. And for both of us it wasn't a shitty win. Sanders and Penny went off, and everyone else for you across the board had solid games. Apparently Dak still can't grip a football. I'm not an expert, but I feel like QBs need to be able to do that. Nuk is still watching Redzone on Sundays and waiting to hop on Call of Duty with Murray. The good news is Brian Robinson is miraculously going to make his debut after literally getting shot -- to probably put up 10 carries for 25 yards. But hey, you got a win. π
Will: I told y'all Goff was elite. No one but me and Joe knew it, but he was elite all along. Maybe the Rams should trade for him. CPatt went down, which finally allows me to open the door and start my pre-season darling Dameon Pierce. Allen will likely finally be back this week, and maybe I get the Sun God back. Najee fuckin sucks, but maybe Pickett gives him πππ. I feel real good about my depth, (especially with the god amongst mortals Jared Goff). You're next Jordan. π
